Caparol expands sustainably - #MITCAPAROLUMDENKEN

Caparol has launched the #MITCAPAROLUMDENKEN initiative to promote sustainability. It is based on three central pillars: sustainable products and solutions, sustainable packaging and recycling, and climate-friendly production.

Sustainable products and solutions: more climate protection with CapaGreen
Through continuous product optimisation, Caparol ensures more climate protection. Example of Indeko-plus from the particularly resource-saving CapaGreen range: Caparol uses 100% renewable raw materials for the production of its premium interior paint in the binder: biogas and bio-naphtha. These are extracted from certified biomass and completely replace the precious fossil raw materials. This results in savings of up to 62% of CO2 compared to a conventional binder.

The CapaGreen range continues to grow: two more high-performance products have recently entered the product portfolio with the mineral Sylitol® organic inner paint and the special primer paint HaftGrund EG.
Sustainable packaging and recycling: less waste, less CO2 Caparol is committed to sustainable packaging as well as developing environmentally conscious product solutions. For example, for the manufacture of its containers, Caparol uses:
Plastic Recyclates (PCR) from the yellow bag, i.e. recycled plastic. With a PCR content of up to 70%, the packaging of the CapaGreen line is particularly environmentally friendly. In addition, Caparol uses tinplate cans in the CapaGreen range, which have a particularly high recyclability. The proper disposal of containers is also an important concern for Caparol. For this purpose, the company has joined the nationwide system of Zentek GmbH und Co. KG. The environmentally friendly disposal of empty large and small containers on the construction site is a free service from Caparol.

Together with partners, Caparol has also developed a process to make remnants of mineral wool, polystyrene and polyurethane facade insulation panels recyclable. Pure-grade insulation material sections are carefully processed in the factory and fed back into the production process as raw material.

Climate-friendly production: together against global warming

Under the umbrella of DAW, Caparol is also actively committed to achieving the climate goals. Since 2017, the company has been using 100% green electricity in the administration and production processes of its German locations. With its Climate Strategy 2025, Caparol aims to further reduce remaining emissions in line with the 2°C climate target.
